The strange case of doctor Alsaïd | M6 | 66 minutes

Doctor Farid Alsaïd is a radiologist. He is charged with numerous breaches of hygiene and medical regulations in his five practices in the Nord region of France. A year ago, in February 2008, he was barred from practising for one year by the Medical Council. Since then he has left France. Dr Alsaïd is the object of an investigation for fraud against the Social Security and of a preliminary enquiry for possible breaches of hygiene regulations and other dangerous diagnoses. In December, an international arrest warrant was issued against Dr Alsaïd. He is sought by the Valenciennes’ court for “fraud against the Social Security” and “endangering the lives of others”. Of the 8,000 patients recalled by the Ministry of Health “five or six cases present problems” according to the court. Some women, suffering from a cancer, had undergone mammograms in one of Dr Alsaïd’s practices, but their illness had not been detected. Our investigators found him in Syria. For the first time Dr Alsaïd gives his account to the television cameras.
