Paris, under tight surveillance | TF1 | Appels d'urgence

Bag snatching, robbery from cars, riots, gang warfare, all forms of aggression¾violence in the city is on the rise.Formed three years ago, the anti-violence squad is waging a real war in the 93 department of France. Nearly 13,000 violent thefts are committed each year in this suburb¾or nearly 35 per day. Four years ago Paris saw a new wave of bag snatching by scooter-riding delinquents. The result was the formation of a security force, a police service equipped with powerful motorcycles able to confront this new form of urban violence. They are also the men we saw in action during the recent disturbances at the Gare du Nord and during the last presidential elections. How is the police adapting to these new acts of crime? Who are the petty criminals who fear nothing and certainly not the police? How are relations between the police and the people in such a climate of violence?
