13 May 1993, 9h30, as every morning, Laurence, trainee teacher at the Commandant Charcot kindergarten in Neuilly sur Seine, had already started her morning class with her young charges when a man wearing a helmet burst in. The man looked formidable in a black tracksuit. He carried bags slung around his shoulders. Using a typewritten sheet of paper he announced that the class was now hostage and he presented exorbitant demands for money.This was the beginning of the HB (“Human Bomb”) story that rocked France.This documentary is based solely on the facts that emerged during the 46 hours that the hostage crisis lasted. It recreates the unique intensity of those moments from three sources:- audio tapes recorded by the SWAT squad, from which the fictional part is reconstructed as it actually happened;- interviews with the accidental players in the drama;- archive images, filmed by the emergency services.This drama-documentary was commissioned by France 2 and produced by Tony Comiti. It was written by Jérôme Dassier from the book by Jean-Pierre About and directed by Patrick Poubel.
