LYON’S SAMU EMERGENCY SERVICES | Enquête d'action | W9
With a population of nearly 500,000, Lyon is one of the biggest cities in France. In order to provide them with assistance, its SAMU is the country’s 2nd largest. 182 doctors, nurses and ambulance staff provide service day and night, 7 days a week. Every year, its number 15 switchboard receives more than 700,000 calls, more than one per minute. Road accidents, heart attacks or suicide attempts… the emergency professionals intervene whatever time it is and in places that sometimes are unlikely. For a month, the team from “Enquête d’action” shared the daily lives of the SAMU 69. In the thick of the working lives of the men and women who, under often extreme circumstances, have decided to devote their lives to saving those of others.
