In Togo, the succession of the General Eyadema, president who ruled supreme during forty years, gave rise to an electoral masquerade.The entourage of the late president and France did everything to impose the son of the General Eyadema, Faure Gnassingbe, at the head of the country. Initially by proclamation then, under the pressure of the international community, by a presidential election organized quickly.At the end of a poll held on April 24, 2005, spoilt by many irregularities, Faure Gnassingbe was declared elected, in spite of the protests of the opposition.During several days, the opponents were demonstrating in the streets, the police force and the army drew. Togo failed to know a scenario “à la Ivory Coast”. Return on elections more than dubious.
