THE PASCAL BRUN CASE: THE EUROMILLIONS WINNER | M6 | 66 minutes

On December 17 2004, Pascal Brun wins 26 million Euros on the Loto. On July 18 2017, he is buried in his home region, near Bordeaux. In 13 years the life of this butcher from Begles changed completely. This man, a bachelor with no particular history, who had never traveled, sells his business, moves into a luxury hotel, invests in a night club, buys a number of luxury cars, etc. His lucky windfall draws envious eyes and Pascal Brun has to deal with plenty of requests.

On becoming a millionaire, he quarrels with a part of his family. Added to this are several arrests for driving while drunk, attempts to bribe policemen and a three-year prison sentence. However, his fortune couldn’t protect him from disease. Pascal Brun dies on July 11 2017, from cancer. During these 13 years as a super-rich man, his friends explain that he quite simply “tried to buy happiness”.

A look back at the tragic fate of a lottery winner.
