Once again, nearly seven million French and two million foreigners will set out this year on winter sports holidays in France. However, during this period the emergency services don’t really get to enjoy the party! Skiing accidents¾around one hundred and forty thousand per year¾risky helicopter rescues, assaults, brawls… these are their daily fare. Because, with the crisis, ski resorts have had to adapt to attract tourists. Longer and longer ski slopes, higher and higher up the mountain, leisure areas or even nightclubs right on the slopes… No effort is spared to offer skiers more and more pleasure, more and more excitement. However, a good many forget that with winter sports not anything goes. At the Deux Alpes, one of the biggest and most popular resorts in France we follow the exciting and often spectacular interventions by the gendarmes and the rescue services. And you will see that for certain tourists the skiing holiday can leave a bitter taste…
