Intensive farming, with no grazing, is increasing for cattle. The method has now become the norm throughout the world as it has with milk cows. In the United States farms are able to concentrate more than 30,000 animals in confined spaces far from any grassland. The result: mass-produced cheap milk. However, the consequences can sometimes be disastrous: mistreatment of the animals, pollution of the air or the water table. An investigation into “factory farms” in the United States and in France. Director, Frédérique Mergey, followed the battle between the promoters of the first initiative of this kind, a farm of 1000 cows, exploited near Abbeville in the Somme, and its opponents.
