It’s a case that has rocked France over the last two weeks. On Saturday 21 October 2017 a stag was shot on private property. The animal was trapped after being pursued with dogs for over five hours. That’s all that was needed to bring the anti-hunting brigade up in arms. And yet Alain Drach, the marksman, denies any wrongdoing. He even says he was acting under instructions from the gendarmerie. That did not prevent a storm of insults. On social media, photos of bullets, together with his address and telephone number, are circulating. He has already received more than 450 death threats. A state of incomprehensible violence for the hunter and those around him.
