CRIME IN THE VAR: A YEAR IN TOULON CENTRAL POLICE STATION | TF1 | Appels d'urgence

For a whole year we followed the Toulon police force in their fight against crime. The capital of the Var has long had a bad reputation. Probably because of its military base, home to submarines and aircraft carriers, and to its port, a melting pot for criminals, seamen, prostitutes and a whole other wildlife in search of adventure and excitement. However, the city is now less in the news. Perhaps because the police are mounting a real campaign against crime. With three priority targets: violent robbery, drug trafficking and anti-social behaviour. To combat these three scourges there three divisions with complementary missions: the BAC, specialising in blatant criminality, the Support Police, who are often the first to arrive at an emergency and the Special Ground Brigade, an elite unit in the front line against crime. Their interventions, often eventful, are launched from Central HQ, where all the divisions are based and which, day and night, becomes a real hive of “anti-crime” activity.
